Shaker Candle Table Workshop: 3 - 6 April 2025 ( $1100 )

The Shaker Candle Table is a perfect introduction to wood turning and traditional joinery and a timeless classic from the Hancock Shaker Community, Circa 1800 -1840. 

Glen regularly made and sold these iconic tables through our Kyneton store over ten years ago but now offers this fantastic table as a class for the first time, in our purpose built Tylden workshop. The perfect accompaniment to a rocking or sitting chair!

You will learn  the basics of wood turning on the lathe, turning the pedestal for the stand and further utilise the lathe to cut the sliding dovetails to accept the tripod legs. 

The table top and legs are produced with a combination of machinery and hand tools, as is the cleat that holds the top to the pedestal, ensuring that there is a fantastic, eclectic range of skills and techniques learnt during the class. 

All materials are included and all the tools required are supplied.

Workshop Cost: $1100. A deposit of $600 is required to book your position with the balance of $500 payable during the class. 

Coffee and tea is available all day, morning tea is provided; BYO lunch. 

Class begins at 9.00am in our Tylden Workshop. 

Tylden is near Woodend and Kyneton in Victoria's Macedon Ranges.

Positions are strictly limited to six (4) people on this workshop. Due to course preparation and wait lists, if a position is cancelled less than four (4) weeks prior to the start date, we are sorry, but 50% of your deposit payment is not refundable. You may transfer or pass on this course booking (for this date only) to another person if you are unable to attend. If the course is unable to run and is cancelled by us, or you are unable to make it due to border lockdowns, 100% of your funds are refundable.
