Comb Back Rocking Chair Masterclass ( 7 days )

Be a part of this seven day masterclass in chairmaking with one of Australia's finest and highly regarded chair makers and instructors.  Over seven days you will handcraft a Comb Back Windsor Chair, the design suits both contemporary and traditional interiors and would sit well in any style of home. 

Participants will be taken through traditional processes such as hand carving the seat to steam bending the crest rail, each back spindle will be hand carved with a drawknife and spokeshave using a shave horse.  You will shape and hand fit the rocker blades. You will be using traditional tools such as scorpes, draw knives, travishers and spokeshaves and learn how to use hand tools rather than machinery and take home all the knowledge and techniques - as well as the patterns for your chair.

At the completion of this workshop you will take home a timeless chair that you have handcrafted; a true heirloom piece that you will pass down through generations. 

NOTE: Previous experience in chairmaking is desirable for the best outcome. 

Course runs for 7 consecutive days / approx 56 - 60 hours.

All materials are included and all the tools required are supplied.

Workshop Cost: $2200. The deposit for this workshop is $1000. The balance of $1200 is to be paid during the class.

Coffee and tea is available all day, morning tea is provided; BYO lunch. 

Class begins at 9.00am in our Tylden Workshop. 

Tylden is near Woodend and Kyneton in Victoria's Macedon Ranges.

TERMS & CANCELLATION POLICY:

Positions are strictly limited to six (6) people on this workshop. Due to course preparation and wait lists, if a position is cancelled less than four (4) weeks prior to the start date, we are sorry, but 50% of your deposit payment is not refundable. Many of our longer classes require participants to apply for leave (as you may have done) to attend and this cannot be done with short notice. You may transfer or pass on this course booking (for these dates only) to another person if you are unable to attend. If the course is unable to run and is cancelled by us 100% of your funds are refundable.
