One-day scissormaking taster with Grace Horne 
4” fine point scissors

This is intensive one-day taster class covers the basics of European-style scissor making. We will use 4” vintage drop-forged blanks of a Sheffield pattern that make perfect scissors for fine delicate work.  There will be a lunchtime talk on design fundamentals that will cover other types of scissors and how these techniques can be applied to them in the future. 

You will get workbooks, one pair of scissor blanks to work on and on-going, on-line support.  You will leave with a finished pair of scissors and all the knowledge ’tools’ you need to make scissors in the future.  All the work you will be doing will be light bench work, however this course will equip you with the specialist knowledge to forge or machine scissor parts independently in the future.

There will be additional vintage blanks available to purchase after the class for students to work on independently at home. No metalworking experience is needed.

 

The workshop is conducted at fellw edge tool maker Pete Trott's Kyneton Workshop.

All materials are included and all the tools required are supplied. 

Please BYO lunch - or there are many lunch options in Kyneton. 

Class begins at 9.00am and will run through until 6.00pm.

Workshop Address: 61-63 Powlett Street, Kyneton. 

Kyneton is in Victoria's Macedon Ranges.

TERMS & CANCELLATION POLICY:

Positions are strictly limited to eight (8) people on this workshop. Due to course preparation, international instructor and potential wait lists; if a position is cancelled less than four (4) weeks prior to the start date, we are sorry, but 50% of your deposit payment is not refundable. You may transfer or pass on this course booking (for this date only) to another person if you are unable to attend.
